the darkness gig was sooooooo damn cool, theres pics on my fotolog. it was one of the best live gigs i've seen, theyre even better live. the singer hit all the high notes all the way through the gig and the guitar solos which were used a hell of a lot were totally rock and roll \m/ \m/.
at one point in the gig a group of bouncers carried the lead singer through the crowd on their shoulders whilst he was still playing the guitar. he was heard to shout "get off my balls!!!!!" at one point!!!! i managed to get quite close to him to take a couple of pictures with my trusty camera phone.
they played their xmas single of course and had everyone singing along to it at the top of their voices. they had a couple of costume changes during the set and they had a festive change before this song. throughout the song they had fake song falling over the front of the stage, which was cheesily cool, and then at the end they covered the whole audience with it as well, which was fab.
apart from the xmas single their best song was "i believe in a thing called love" during which everyone just went nuts, bouncing around and singing as loud as they could. at the start we were stood next to a guy who had come in costume. he had a one piece suit on, in cow print, and a big blonde curly wig too. i had to shake his hand, he was the only one i saw in costume there, which suprised me.
the darkness were excellent, an excellent live act with a great stage show. the back of the stage was filled with lighting rigs which were really dramatic and very rock and roll too. i recommend them to anyone and everyone!!!
went for a couple of drinks in the flute after the gig before heading home for a much needed rest.
the next night i went to see belle and sebastian - a huge contrast to the night before!! they were really good live, better than the cd's i've heard. they all just looked as if they needed a big hug and a mug of horlicks tho, bless em!! i didnt know all the songs they played as i've only recently really got into them. but the ones i did know were really cool.
i was very pissed off at the end tho, they didnt play their best, and definitley most popular song, even tho the crowd were shouting out for them to play it all the way through. i had assumed they would play this song called "the model" and was looking forward to it a lot, but they didnt :o(
but all in all it was a very good gig, they were very cool to see live.
going to see my ruin at the uni next week! i cant wait!!!
