went to see Flogging Molly last night with Rob, Tony and Simon. The first badn on was Colourful, trouble was, they didnt really live up to their name. The bass player was really fucking good and carried the rest of the band. The singers voice sounded very much like he was strangling a cat. The next band on was Glueball. They were a punk band, as in sex pistols style punk. They were pretty good but nothing special. The singer was interesting. He had eye make-up on, like the guy in clockwork orange, and one side of his hair was black and flat, and the other side was bright white and spikey.

Flogging Molly were on next and by this time the crowd were a bit wild. Why is it that at every gig there are always nob head iat the front, making a show of themselves. I look at this people and its a harsh reminder why i dont get pissed and go to gigs! Anyways, when flogging molly came on the crowd cheered soooo loud! There was 7 of them, their instruments included an accordian, mandolin, guitars, drums of all kinds, fiddle, accordian, tin whistle, banjo, and bass.

They began with a frenzied song called Drunken Lullabies, which is also the title of their last album. The crowd immediatley went wild and the madness began!!! About half way through their set, Rob ventured into the pit for his favourtie song "Rebels of the Sacred Heart" and came back slightly dishevelled. After a while i went to the front myself, where the atmosphere was much better, and i bounced up and down there for a good half an hour. The trick is to stand towards the sides cos there isnt as much of a crush there, but you still get to see as much (if not more) as the people in the middle.

The gig was amazing.The singer kept chatting to the crowd and was genuinely grateful for the fantastic reception they were receiving. It was such a fun gig, and everyone was of high spirits throughout! I had expected that they would be a great live band and i certainly wasnt disapointed!!!!!!! I would certainly see them again and i look forward to it!!! Flogging Molly are gonna be massive!!!!



This afternoon, on my way back from Robs, i went for a mooch round the shops. Didnt get anything much at all. Went through St Johns and found a new shop where Vision Express used to be. Its kind of like the gadget shop. They have allsorts of wonderful things there!!! Got some good ideas of things i could buy for various people for christmas!!!!!!

After that i went home and then went to the doctors. For ages and ages now, i;ve been trying to lose weight and it just hasnt worked. so last time i went to the doctors for a check up i asked him about the possiblity of getting some kind of medication to help me. He said i'd have to come see the nurse, get weighed, lose some weight and then i'd be able to get some kind of medication. So i went to see the nurse today and she was really nice, thank god. I now have to lose at least 2lbs in 2 weeks... so wish me luck!!!!!!!

Had 2 nice days off, but now i have an 8 day straight shift, 10.30-7 for 3 days and then 8-4.30 for 5 days...Dont mind it too much.I'd certainly rather be doing this than be working another xmas in retail! Its so hellish and crappy!!!!!!!! This year i have a decent job where i dont have to work my arse off running round a skanky shop all day every day!!! Horray for me!!!
