well the move went ok over the weekend. big thanks to skippy and Snarlie for being the best help i couldve asked for . they were absolute stars and i'm eternally grateful for their very hard work. joolia and jon came later on and helped with the last bits, which was greatly appreciated as we were definitely flagging by then!!
we managed to get all my stuff over to the new flat in 2 van trips and everything was in by about 12.30!!! the stairs were an absolute killer, being in the attic flat. and it was such a relief to finally get everything up there. the majority of the room ended up filled with bags and boxes but we managed to manoevre the tv into the corner and plug it in to watch.
after a trip to macdonalds and a nice chat everyone went their seperate ways to clean, change and feed themselves. laydee k came after work and brought alcopops and sweet and sour chicken, which was lovely. everyone else came later and due to the crappy hailstones we decided to get some beers from the offy rather than all go to the pub. unfortunatley i didnt drink any at all as i had a really nasty headache and the beer was not doing it any favours.
on sunday i spent all day putting bits where they should be and unpacking lots of boxes. i only have about 6 boxes left now and loads of bags of clothes that i cant move until my new wardrobe arrives on saturday, all being well of course. but theres a big gap in the middle of the room now and its starting to feel like home. the kitchens all set up now, apart from the light not working, which the handymen are coming to repair today.
had loads of fun using the hammer drill that my dad bought me. he got me a big DIY kit with screwdrivers and other bits and bobs in, basically all i need for little jobs around the house. he bought it so that i can do that sort of thing for myself rather than having to get him to do it. i do love my drill tho!!! i've used it to put my computer desk back together again, put my shelves together, put up a towel ring and bog roll holder, and put up some pictures. its all good fun.
it was such a novelty having a lovely hot shower this morning. i used to have to have baths all the time in the other flat cos we didnt have a shower and i prefer showers much more than a bath. i was in and out of the shower in 10 mins flat this morning, no waiting around for the bath to fill up or any of that bollox!!! it was lovely :o)
i'm so glad i'm in the flat now. its gonna cost me more than the other flat but its gonna be so worth it. i havent felt lonely at all cos i usually spent my time in the last flat by myself so its not a noticeable change really. and its nice to be able to have things how i want them to be instead of having to tiptoe around other people. its all very empowering :o)
