soooooooo i had an interesting day yesterday. i had arrange to meet me old mate ste (formerly know as chod) for a drink and then to go to the pictures. when ste turns up he's all excited and he says "can we put the pictures off for a bit, i have somewhere else i want to take you and i think you'll enjoy it, but i wanna keep it a suprise!!". so feeling adventurous i decided to go with the flow. so we have another drink and then head to the car so ste can take me to this mystery place.
we drive out to kensington and park near this gym, which i believe is well known as Vic's Gym. Ste then hands me a ticket for "Mr 21st Century Body Building Competition" at which point i piss myself laughing cos it sounds like a right laugh!!!! the last thing i expected although i didnt have the slightest clue where i was being taken anyway.
Ste got the tickets for this cos his Sensei ( i think thats how you spell it) at karate was working on the door for it and convinced him to take 2 free tickets from him and bring me along! thus commence the funnisest couple of hours i've had in a long time. The competitors were all local but my god, i like toned men, but they were fucking massive, with fake tan dripping off their already sun bed tanned bodies making then alomst black!!! the smallest guy was even scarily big and he looked tiny compared to the rest, some of their biceps were bigger than my thighs!!!!
each one had to do a series of poses showing their different muscle areas and jeesus they were scary!!! you couldve used then as a biological diagram they were so defined!!!! the compere was a former mr universe who was like someone from peter kay. he had lovely catchphrases which were so well thought out. seriously, they were fucking terrible and he just kept repeating them over and over again whilst the competitors were posing to their specially chosen posing music. some prime examples were:
* here he is, all the way from turkey, used to work out on the beach
* sexy mover thats for sure
* he's sexy stuff
* only just out of hospital, he pulled all those tubes and stuff out and came straight to the gym
* hes only 18, just out of school, jyst a young lad
* used to be a stripper, one for the ladies
* this guys out senior citizen, 55 years of age
* trains twice a day he does
i was in stitches for the entire thing, they even had "guest posers" who were the winners last year, who were even more corny that the competitors. they also had woman on who won the womens competition, "one for the lads" kelly, was kinda scary too, she wasnt massive at all, but she had skin like leather and was very defined.
its really hard to put into words what i saw yesterday, i wish i'd taken a camera, but ste did manage to get a picture for me on my camera phone which is now onmy fotolog. it was difficult do get a good picture cos of all the spotlights and stuff, but you can get the idea from the picture. i've never laughed so much for so long, my sides hurt from laughing today and my face aches from smiling!!!!!
so after that spectacle i made some polite comments on the way out so as not to offend ste's sensei and half the doormen and bouncers in liverpool who were there, and we headed back into town. after a pint in the varsity we went down to FACT to see the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. it was a totally brilliant film with jim carrey, kate winslet, kirsten dunst and elijah wood in.
"How happy is the blameless Vestal?s lot! The world forgetting, by the world forgot. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign?d" Alexander Pope
the film was written by the Charlie Kaufman, the same guy who did Being John Malkovich so you can imagine the overall kind of feeling the film had. its was amazing, funny, vivid, tear jerking and excellently done. i want to see it again soon and i'll definitley be buying the dvd. this is the website just go see the film, i guarantee you'll like it !!
so yes, i had an eventful day yesterday, having a quiet one today, must go wash the hair dye out of my hair before it melts my head!!
